Three Part Series on Story Structure

Okay, so this isn’t profound, brand new, or whatever. But it’s solid stuff, and I created it on the fly this week for students working from home. I thought maybe other folks – parents working with their students at home, other teachers, etc. – might benefit from having these YouTube videos as well.

The first video is about basic plot/action shape for stories.

The second is about the three-act structure.

The third is about the Hero’s Journey.

Every reader and writer should know about these things.

I mentioned creating this lesson in response to some unusual circumstances earlier this week during a wind event that found school canceled and power out around my area.

I hope this is helpful to someone! Let me know if you have any great resources on the same.

Here’s that URL I flashed in the third video. It’s a great resource: http://www.sfcenter.ku.edu/Workshop-stuff/Joseph-Campbell-Hero-Journey.htm
