Recently featured guest author Valarie Chatindo sent WHP this cool opportunity, so we are happy to post it for y’all. Pass the word to learners who write!
In commemoration of The International Day of Albinism Awareness, Shumba Literary is inviting stories and poems about albinism from learners. 📖✨
Learners with albinism often face unique challenges—especially when it comes to visual impairments and being left out of critical educational opportunities. Through this competition, we aim to acknowledge their experiences, raise awareness, and promote inclusivity in education.
This is more than just a writing competition; it’s about celebrating creativity, amplifying underrepresented voices, and fostering a culture where all students, regardless of their challenges, have the chance to thrive.
🎁 Prizes include:
$50 for the winning entries!
A donation of reading glasses for students in need in Zimbabwe, thanks to our partners at the Shepherd Foundation.
We’re proud to partner with Masibanda Pride, The Artzi Trust and The Write Space to bring this initiative to life.
👉 Deadline: 10 June
📧 Submit your entries to: shumbaliterarymagazine@gmail.com with subject “Schools Story Competition”
Let’s raise awareness, amplify voices, and create a more inclusive future. #AlbinismAwareness #InclusionInEducation #CelebrateCreativity
